Obituary: Alys Yager Morrison

Alys Yager Morrison, 93, died March 6, 2015, from complications after a fall.

She was born in Muskegon, Michigan, but moved to Lake Wales at age 3. She attended Florida State College for Women.

After World War II, she married the love of her life, Tilrow Morrison. She spent most of her life in her adopted hometown of Plant City, where she devoted herself to her family and spent her free time in civic affairs and helping at Saint Clement Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Morrison (Lynne); granddaughter, Erin Johnson (Kevin); granddaughters, Colleen and Claire Morrison; and great-grandchildren, Addison and Sam.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilrow; sons, Adam Lee and Stephen; and grandson, Adam Tilrow Morrison.

Her family will always be grateful for the kind, loving care provided by her caregivers, especially Mary Nichols.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 13, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Nature Conservancy or other charity of your choice.
