William Ray ‘Bill’ Davis

William Ray ‘Bill’ Davis, 80, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on Aug. 17, 2018. Bill was born in

Grundy, Virginia on Feb. 1, 1938. 

He graduated from Plant City High School where he played basketball. He was married to Shelba Pullen Davis on March 27, 1958; they were married 60 years. Bill worked as a Parts Manager for Wilson Davis Ford and when he retired, he went to work at Springhead Elementary School. He was recognized as Hillsborough County Public School’s Non-Instructional Support Person of the Year in 2009. He enjoyed being outside and especially loved bass fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, cheering on ALL Florida football teams and spending time with his family. Bill volunteered with the Plant City Youth’s basketball league after high school graduation.   

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Shelba, his daughter, Sherri Davis Black, her husband Christopher Black, his grandchildren Nicholas Jones, Lucas Jones, A.J. Black and Samantha Black, his twin brother Robert L. (Bobby) Davis and his wife, Marjorie Osborne Davis and their children Robby Davis and Debbie Davis Wise. 

Bill is preceded in death by his parents L.E. and Myrtle M. Davis.

A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.  Father Tom Theoni will be officiating. Visitation will be before the service at 3 p.m. in the church Parish Hall. Burial will follow at Mt. Enon Cemetery.

Arrangements handled by Wells Memorial Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

Donald William Talmon 

Donald William Talmon, 85, of Plant City passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2018 in

Hospice care at Tampa General Hospital after complications from surgery. 

Don was born on August 9, 1933 in Buffalo, New York to Paul William Talmon and Loraine Lederhaus Talmon Duncan. Don graduated from Manatee High School, served in the Navy in the Korean War and graduated from Florida State University( and remained a loyal Seminole his entire life). He was a highly successful Human Resource Director for several major corporations including Firestone, Mead, and Mulberry Phosphate. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Creighton Talmon, Paul Talmon and John Duncan and his son Robert.

Donald is survived by his wife, Audrey Rapone Talmon (1989) and his wife, Sallie Florrie Talmon Evans (1958) and his siblings, children grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, April Talmon (David) Domine, grandchildren, Anthony Domine and Gianna Harrison and his great grandchildren, Chambers Domine and Huxley Harrison. He is survived by his son David Christopher (Leigh) Talmon and his grandsons, Dillon and Zach Talmon. He is survived by his daughter Marisue (Jeff Clark) Wehrenberg and son Andrew (Elsa) Wehrenberg and granddaughters Alexis and Sierra Wehrenberg. He is survived by daughter Ruthie Piper-Hardee. He is survived by his brother Richard Talmon and sisters, Laurie Duncan Murphy and Judy Talmon Hartmann. 

Donald has chosen to be cremated and did not want a formal service but rather for his friends and family to celebrate his life in their own way. We will always remember your strong German independent spirit and work ethic that you inspired in us. We are who we are today because of you. We will carry you in our hearts always.

 

Williams ‘Bill’ Yates

William (Bill) Lee Yates, age 75, died of natural causes on Saturday, Aug. 18th, 2018, in Tallahassee,

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Frances Bannerman Yates, of Tallahassee Florida and siblings Tanya M. Pearson and Lewis E. Yates of Plant City Florida. 

Bill is survived by his sons: James (Cheri) of Tallahassee, Brian (Kate) of Albany, NY; and grandchildren: Kyle, Amber and Riley. He has three surviving brothers Jerry E. Yates, Paul A. Yates and Clayton E. Yates of Plant City, Florida.

Bill was born on April 1, 1943 in Plant City, Florida, to parents Edward B. Yates and Ella Mae (Worley) Yates. He graduated from Plant City High School in 1962 and completed college at Florida State University in 1973 with a degree in Criminology. In 1962 Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill was a great family man and a loving father. He married Frances (Bannerman) Yates in 1968 and the couple had two children together James and Brian. Bill enjoyed working with his hands on projects such as wood working, tending to his home, yard and garden and mechanical repairs.

His family and friends will always remember him as a devoted family man and giving person. 

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25th, 2018 at Culley’s MeadowWood
