William C. Meriwether “Bill”, passed away August 1, 2022. A proud Plant City native, former Mayor and Commissioner of Plant City and member of the Rough Riders was born on December 12, 1944 and adopted by Dr. William G. and Topsy Meriwether of Plant City. Survived by two sisters, Sue Isbell and Susan Helms; ex-wife Sigrid Meriwether; step-mother Carol; partner Betty Hicks; children Billy, Bonnie and Nick; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Joel, Adelina and Abigail; cousins Joe Griffin, Jane Kline and Sandra Baier; nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Plant City Elks Lodge August 21, 2022 at 4 p.m., 1501 N. Alexander St. He will be missed by all.
Loren E. Mercer, Sr.
June 10, 1934 – August 9, 2022
Born in a small frame house on the banks of Turkey Creek in Durant. Loren was a lifelong resident of the Plant City area. He married the love of his life Christine in 1952 and they were married 60 years before her passing in 2012. Loren was a professional Land Surveyor and held the distinction of being the youngest ever certified Surveyor in the state. He truly loved his life’s work and mentored many in the ethics of hard work and excellence. A devout man of faith in the one true God, Loren leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love for his family and home-spun humor. Loren’s daily presence will be greatly missed by his three sons, their wives and his 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren along with his sister Joyce. A Celebration of Life was held August 13, 2022 at Bell Shoals Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd. Brandon, FL 33511
