Lonnie Melvin Lee, 86, of Plant City, Fla. born in Lacoochee on Aug. 2, 1935, entered into eternal rest on Aug. 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by wife, Dolores Arleen Lee; and son, Lonnie Arthur Lee. He retired from IMC, and was a member of Shriners and Turkey Creek Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed coaching Plant City Little League Baseball, and fishing. He is survived by children, Leah White (Chuck) of Lakeland, Linda Simpkins of Marion, Indiana, and Derek Lee (Hayley) of Plant City; grandchildren, Nicole (Albert), Amy (Mike), CJ (Ginny), Chelsea (Aaron), Rick, Lindsey (Corey), Tyler (Kelsie), Lauren, Lillian, Layla, and Easton; 15 great-grandchildren ; siblings, Alvin Lee, Bonnie McCullough (Christopher), and Verna Rae Young; and hog, Wilbur. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 South County Road 39, Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Graveside committal to follow at Hopewell Memorial Gardens, Plant City.
