Simon Caldwell

Simon Caldwell, 75, of Dover, died Nov. 22, at Brandon Regional Hospital.

Born July 27, 1937, he was the son of the late Virgil Caldwell and the late Netchel Meeks Caldwell. He was the husband of Iris Craig Caldwell.

Simon had served in the Florida National Guard of Polk County.

Survivors include sons, David, Mark, James and Paul Caldwell; daughters, Tammy Caldwell and Janie Harris; brother, Carl Caldwell; sisters, Rudene Allred, Mary Gill and Janie Willis; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family asks that in lieu if flowers that donations be made to AMVETS in Mr. Caldwell’s memory.

Josephine Carvalho

Josephine Carvalho, 92, of Plant City, died Nov. 16, at her home.

Born Jan. 1, 1920, in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Manuel Vasconcellos and the late Maria Moniz.

Survivors include daughter, Ruth St Pierre (Roger); five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Anthony James Hitson

Anthony James Hitson, 26, of Plant City, died Nov. 20, at his home.

He was born July 26, 1986, in Plant City. Mr. Hitson was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where he was altar server of the year. He was also an Eagle Scout from Troop 14 in Plant City.

He is survived by his maternal grandparents, James and Irene Blakey; mother, Suzanne Blakey-Moore; uncle, Raymond Blakey (Cheryl); cousins, Leah Kaye, Melissa Rae and Lauren Michelle Blakey; his soul-mate Lori Barker and her son, Lucius; and many relatives and friends.

Lori Holgate

Lori Holgate, 53, died Nov. 24, at her home.

Born Jan. 8, 1959, in Plant City, she was the daughter of Charles Brunson and Florence Gill Brunson. She was the wife of Reginald Holgate.

Survivors include a daughter, Holly Griffith; and brothers, Charles “Chuck” Brunson and Christopher Alan Brunson.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 30, at Haught Funeral Home Chapel, 708 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Plant City. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 30, at Haught Funeral Home Chapel.

Jimmy E. Meeks

Jimmy E. Meeks, 68, of Plant City, died Nov. 20, at South Florida Baptist Hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of Florida, born in Tampa on June 18, 1944, to Roy and Mellie Meeks.

Jimmy worked as a heavy equipment operator for Mosaic Company for more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dianna Meeks, three daughters, Kristin Molen and Melissa Meeks, Laura Meeks; a son, John E. Meeks; brother, Jerry Meeks; a sister, Jean McClelland; and three grandchildren, Michael, Emily and Chloe Molen.

A memorial service was Nov. 25, at Wells Memorial & Event Center.

Peggy W. Richertson

Peggy W. Richertson, 64, of Plant City, died Nov. 17, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Billy; children, Cherith Lynn (Robert) and Ahava Judd (Richard); grandchildren Dylan, Madison, Robert, Hunter and David; sister Joy Blackmon; and granddog Moo-Moo.

A Celebration of Life was Nov. 27, at Hopewell Funeral Home.

Eula Tillman Seeds

Eula Tillman Seeds, 81, of Lithia, died Nov. 20.

She was a member of Plant City First Assembly of God, and a retired custodian at Pinecrest Elementary School.

She is survived by her children, David Chandler (Alice), Wanda Tindale (Jason), Jan Benjamin (Kevin) and Jay Tillman, Jr. (Merry); 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Nov. 26, at Hopewell Funeral Home. Interment followed at Pelote Cemetery, Lithia.

Christopher Channing Thorpe

Christopher Channing Thorpe, 36, of Plant City, died Nov. 24.

Born Saturday, May 29, 1976, in Lakeland, he was the son of Tom Thorpe and Evelynn Martin Thorpe. He was the husband of Jill Thorpe.

Mr. Thorpe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was employed with Sensenich Propellers in Plant City.

Survivors include a son, Channing Thorpe; brother, Dale Thorpe; and sisters, Beverly Crummley, Mabel Alford, Audrey Thorpe, Tanya Patrick and Wanda Wygal. He was predeceased by brother, Andrew Thorpe.
