Robert G. Manee

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert G. Manee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away at the age of 93.
Born in Plant City, Fla., on Feb. 14, 1932, Bobby lived an extraordinary life—rich with love, laughter, adventure, and lots of golf. He made his exit quickly and on his own terms, passing peacefully from natural causes at home. Though he slowed down in recent years, he remained sharp, sweet, and endlessly funny until the end. No drawn-out goodbyes, no fuss, with honor and dignity.
Bobby served in the United States Army. He was a proud graduate of the University of Florida and a lifelong Gator fan, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. A longtime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Plant City, Bobby’s faith was a steady foundation.
His love of golf was legendary. He was a founding member of Walden Lake Country Club, and he and his wife, Carolyn, made history as the only husband-and-wife duo to win both the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships at Sapphire National Golf Club in North Carolina in the same year. He won numerous golf championships earning a reputation as a skilled and passionate competitor. Golf was more than a hobby for Bobby, it was a lifelong passion that brought him joy, friendship, and a legacy of excellence on the course.
Bobby’s zest for life extended far beyond the fairways. He skied the mountains of Utah and Colorado, captained boats in the Gulf of Mexico, hiked waterfalls in North Carolina, and traveled the world with his signature charm and sense of fun. He was the kind of man who lit up every room he entered.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Manee Sparkman, his brother, Harry R. Manee, Jr., and his two beloved wives—Anne Whitney Manee, his wife of 16 years, and Carolyn Hardee Manee, his wife of 52 years.
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Martha Manee Harrison (Ricky); his stepsons, Scott McElveen (Kim) and Philip McElveen (Vicki); eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bobby’s legacy is one of strength, humor, loyalty, and enduring love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Jules Burt for her steadfast love and compassionate support throughout the years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 302 E. Carey Street, Plant City, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Expression of condolences at www.HopewellFuneral.com.
