William Gardner Carr

William Gardner Carr, 95, peacefully passed away at home on Apr. 20, 2026. Born on Nov. 18, 1930, in Charleston, SC to Milton C Carr and Mary Ethel Gardner; in 1953, he graduated from Clemson University and married his high school sweetheart, Elisa.
Before retiring, Bill was owner and CEO of Crystals International; which he grew to become the world’s largest freeze-dried food company. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and giving back to the community.
In 2018, Elisa passed away, leaving Bill heartbroken. To stay busy, he kept his house full of family and friends, ending many days hosting stone crab dinners. Bill’s family has much gratitude to all of you who cared for him so faithfully.
Today, it brings Bill’s family comfort to imagine them together again – Elisa dancing and singing, and Bill tending his garden in Heaven.
Bill is survived by his daughter Cathy, son Paul (and wife Nancy), his grandchildren, Nathan and Megan, and his sister-in-law Paula Graham.
Bill was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Plant City, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10 A.M. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Food Bank and Services of Plant City.
