Sara Elizabeth McLaughlin Frierson

Sara Elizabeth McLaughlin Frierson, age 89, of Plant City, Fla., born Apr. 24, 1936, passed away peacefully on Apr. 7, 2026. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She never met a stranger and had the natural gift of encouraging others. She lived her life daily guided by her deep faith and her love for God. Sara Beth worked in medical insurance for Dr. M.R. Pope, the Plant City Hospital, and several other doctors. She was always supportive of her children’s activities and was very involved in the early years of the Pinecrest Little League serving as their first female treasurer while her sons played baseball. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Plant City. She was a member of Turkey Creek First Baptist Church. She had a deep love for baseball from an early age and was a big Tampa Bay Rays fan. She spent many years as an avid FSU football fan enjoying games with her husband of 67 years until his death. She had many lifelong friends whom she cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lloyd Frierson; her mother, Dorothy C McLaughlin; her father, Leon W McLaughlin; and her sister, Margaret Sikes. She is survived by her children, Becky Smith (Rick), Mike Frierson (Lori), and Joe Frierson (Angie); 5 grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters, with another due in May; and several close nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her family would like to express sincere appreciation to Grace Manor at Lake Morton and Vitas Hospice for exceptional compassionate care. 

The family will receive friends on Apr. 24, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. with a Celebration of Life beginning at 4:00 P.M. at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 South County Road 39, Plant City, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Pinecrest Baseball & Softball (Formerly Pinecrest Little League) P.O. Box 733, Lithia, FL 33547. Edith Hall Boyett Shuptrine, 84, of Plant City, Fla., born on Aug. 16, 1941, in Tampa, entered into eternal rest on Apr. 10, 2026.

Mary Elizabeth “Granny” Jurnigan, 90, of Plant City, Fla., was born on Mar. 21, 1936, she was called to Heaven on Apr. 4, 2026.

Leonette ‘Lynn’ Shope

Leonette “Lynn” Shope, 87, of Plant City, Fla., born on Jan. 21, 1939, in New Brockton, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on Apr. 7, 2026.

Scott E. Rowell

Scott E. Rowell, 50, passed away on Apr. 07, 2026, at his home in Plant City, Fla. Scott was born on Aug. 3, 1975, in Plant City, Fla. A funeral service was held Apr. 15, 2026, at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, Plant City, Fla. with Pastor Jim Brady officiating.

M. Merenciana Navarro Solis

M. Merenciana Navarro Solis, a loving and kind woman whose life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and quiet acts of care, passed away on Apr. 4, 2026, in Plant City, Fla., at the age of 85. A Mass service was held on Apr. 14, 2026, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 1104 N Alexander St, Plant City, FL 33563.

Florence G (Williams) Rummel, a longtime resident of Reading, MA passed away peacefully Easter Sunday morning April 5, 2026, at the age of 98. Services were held April 7, 2026, at Haught Funeral Home, 708 W. Dr M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Plant City, Fla.
