Samantha Dross

Samantha Dross of Turkey Creek gained her wings January 26, 2026. Born in Jefferson, New York, she was the daughter of John and Cynthia Dross of Plant City. She is survived by her parents, brother JJ and his family, sisters Courtenay, Jen and Amy. A graduate of Plant City High, while taking classes at USF she became a paraprofessional at the College of Medicine Library, later she followed her dream to work in emergency medicine and over the next 21 years became an EMT, Paramedic and CCT Paramedic. After stepping back from EMS she followed another dream and found joy working with horses, keeping her paramedic skills up at local Interscholastic Equestrian Association and Pinellas County Hunter Association shows where she met many new friends. She was active in the community working with animal rescues; was a Beta Sigma Phi Legacy, and volunteer/officer with Plant City Support Our Soldiers; Marine Families and participated in laying flags and wreaths at the graves of our deceased soldiers and veterans. She will be sorely missed by the legion of friends and co-workers whom she loved and cared for. A celebration of life will be held at Colt Creek Park in Lakeland, February 14 & 15. On the 14th there will be a potluck lunch, no time determined yet.

Mr. Robert Edwin Hires, affectionately known as Eddie to his friends and family, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 18, 2026. Eddie served in the United States Air Force.
