Maintaining Walden Lake
Walden Lake Golf Course will have fresh lawns once more now that a new mowing contractor has been hired to continue caring for the property. City Manager Bill McDaniel said the owner of the company took a tour with the code enforcement manager and has plans to keep the property in tip-top condition.
The contractor plans to have at least one member of his team on the course mowing every day to keep up with the large property. Today’s Bank hired the new team to keep the property up to code. During the tour they also realized some of their larger equipment will be unable to access all the locations that need mowing on the property.
McDaniel said the city was alerted to several dead trees in front of the country club on Holland Drive. Because of the dead trees’ proximity to the right-of-way, the city removed them on June 26 and cleared the space.
‘Murder at Mike’s’
Mystery Dinner Theatre is back. The highly anticipated show will return on Aug. 17 at the Trinkle Center.
Each year the Friends of the Bruton Memorial Library hosts this hilarious event, which features high-ranking members of the community as the lovable cast.
Tickets go on sale June 29 at four Plant City locations: Bruton Memorial Library, 302 W. McLendon St., Regions Bank, 2303 Thonotosassa Road, Holiday Inn Express at Park Road and I-4 and Walden Lake Car Wash, 1414 S. Alexander St.
This year’s production, “Murder at Mike’s,” is directed by Dodie White and will feature an evening filled with “50’s styled” food and “superb entertainment.”
The show will center around the opening of a 50’s restaurant called “Mike’s.” Guests are encouraged to wear 50’s styled clothing like poodle skirts, saddle oxfords, leather jackets, white t-shirts and jeans.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show and dinner begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person. Wine and beer are available and included in the cost of the ticket. Corporate and individual sponsorships available for as little as $250.
This year’s cast includes Brian West, Bill McDaniel, Jon Poppell, Jennifer Morgan, Dan Raulerson, Tina Pike, Verna McKelvin, Frank Cummings, Kayla Drawdy, Jana Butler, Michael Cameron and David Davenport.
St. Clement’s new Mass schedule
St. Clement Catholic Church, 1104 N. Alexander St., is changing its Mass schedule. The new schedule starts this Saturday on June 30. As of July 1 it will no longer have a 6 p.m. Spanish Mass.
Saturday:
Vigil English: 4 p.m.
Vigil Spanish: 6 p.m.
SUNDAY:
Mass English: 7 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Mass Spanish: 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
