Community Health Fair
Hillsborough County Healthy Living Health Fair will be held Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Plant City Community Resource Center, 307 N Michigan Ave.
There will be free health screenings, vaccinations (when available), food from Feeding Tampa Bay Mobile Pantry from 9:00 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m., giveaways, kids’ activities, and much more.
Adult Day Services Hosting Free Event
Hillsborough County Adult Day Services is hosting a free event for seniors and caregivers during National Adult Day Services Week.
Balance Boulevard: Fall-Prevention Fair Empowering Seniors and Caregivers for a Safer Tomorrow will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Plant City Adult Day Center, 1205 S. Waller St.
Learn ways to reduce fall risks through prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices; get interactive health screenings, and access expert community resources.
The event will feature the following:
• Interactive Balance and Mobility Screenings: Learn how key indicators like blood pressure, cholesterol, foot health, vision, hearing, balance, and strength directly influence your mobility and independence.
• Home Safety Guidance: Learn to identify and remove everyday hazards.
• Expert Connections: Meet with local senior health and wellness professionals.
Registration is not required.
CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARMED STANDOFF, ARREST IN PLANT CITY
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a convicted felon following an investigation into the upload of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) that led to an armed standoff at a Plant City residence.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTipline report regarding the upload of multiple video files containing CSAM involving juvenile victims.
On September 15, 2026, HCSO’s Internet Predator Unit, with assistance from the HCSO SWAT Team, responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Juanita Drive to serve a search warrant.
As SWAT approached the residence, David Urbina, 43, allowed family members to exit the home before barricading himself inside. SWAT breached two areas of the residence, allowing negotiators to establish communication with Urbina. Despite repeated commands, Urbina refused to exit the residence.
During the standoff, Urbina, a convicted felon, armed himself with two firearms. After an extended conversation with negotiators, Urbina exited the residence. SWAT deployed a Taser, and Urbina was arrested.
During the incident, Urbina’s brother, Demencio Urbina, 47, arrived at the scene. He aggressively approached detectives, refused commands to leave the area, then resisted efforts to detain him. Detectives deployed a Taser, and Demencio Urbina was arrested.
Once the residence was cleared, detectives searched and seized numerous electronic devices. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.

There were no injuries to HCSO personnel during the incident.
“This suspect thought he could hide behind a locked door and avoid accountability, he was wrong,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “When he barricaded and armed himself, our SWAT Team and Internet Predator Unit responded with professionalism and patience, bringing resolution with no injuries. We will continue holding those who prey upon children accountable.”
This investigation remains active, and the Public Affairs Office will provide any updates.
