Plant City History & Photo Archives Offers Students an Opportunity to Acquire Community Service Hours
Schools are back in session, and students will soon be signing up for community service hours. Here is an opportunity to earn your community service hours in a challenging, fun, and informative manner. Plant City History & Photo Archives (also referred to as the Archives) has openings for high school students to support the research necessary for our History Center.
Students must be at the Junior or Senior level, able to lift up to 20 pounds, have good reading ability, and basic computer skills. Volunteer opportunities include up to two days weekly and no more than four hours per day. The hours available are between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., again, no more than four hours per day. Community service hours will be recorded daily and compiled weekly.
Plant City History & Photo Archives is located at 110 East Reynolds Street, Suite 90, in the W.E. Lee Building in historic downtown Plant City.

Back to School for Humans Means Back To Saving Lives for Pets: Professional Pets Florida Teams Up With Raining Cats and Dogs Shelter for Critical Supply Drive
As families across Florida stock up on backpacks, notebooks, and school supplies, Lauri Cuartas, Owner of Professional Pets Florida, is reminding the community that rescue animals need back-to-school essentials, too. Professional Pets Florida has official teamed up with Raining Cats and Dogs Shelter and Sanctuary, Inc. to launch an end-of-summer supply drive for the months of August and September aimed at taking advantage of massive seasonal pet supply sales to benefit local homeless animals.
While back-to-school shopping dominates the season, major retailers simultaneously slash prices on pet food, crate pads, enrichment toys, and cleaning products. Because Raining Cats and Dogs Shelter and Sanctuary is a 100% volunteer-run organization that receives zero government funding, community support is the sole lifeline keeping its rescued cats and dogs fed, safe, and medically cared for.
“When human kids head back to the classroom, shelter pets are still sitting in rescue, waiting for their forever homes,” said Lauri Cuartas, Owner of Professional Pets Florida. “The back-to-school season brings incredible sales on pet essentials, and we want to harness that momentum. Every dollar saved on discounted supplies means more resources go directly to life-saving supplies for animals that rely entirely on public generosity.”

Meals On Wheels Looking for Volunteers
Meals on Wheels of Plant City needs volunteer drivers to deliver meals one day a week, Monday through Friday, to senior homebound or disabled persons. The organization aids in addressing senior hunger and isolation in the Plant City community. To apply, call the Meals on Wheels office at 813-754-9932. Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.
