HOPE Food Pantry
Hope Lutheran Church will host their monthly “Moving Hope” mobile food pantry on Thursday, August 21, at 2001 North Park Road. In partnership with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Lakeland, food distribution will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the church parking lot and continue until supplies run out. Plant City residents in need of grocery assistance are welcome to receive various items, including vegetables, meat, dairy, and bakery goods. No identification is required. Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center Seeking Help During Record Heat Wave
The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is calling for community support as animals face extreme temperatures. The shelter offers multiple ways to help: becoming a short-term foster, taking dogs on day trips through the Adventure Tails program, donating frozen treats (broth cubes, chilled bowls), adopting pets, or contributing supplies from their Amazon wish list (including blankets, cooling items, and pet-safe foods). Monetary donations can also be made through the Hillsborough County Pet Resources Foundation. The center is processing all volunteer applications and will contact interested helpers as soon as possible. Visit their location at 440 N. Elite K9 to offer Dog Training
Elite K9 Service is offering a free group dog training class on Saturday, August 9, at 9:30 a.m. at 2502 Leaning Pine Lane. The class will cover essential commands, including heel, come, stop barking, stop jumping up, stay, sit, and down. With experience training over 1,000 dogs, Elite K9 requires participants to bring a leash, collar, waste bag, treats or toys, and their dog’s health records. Plant City Kiwanis To Host annual BBQ fundraiser
The Plant City Kiwanis Club will host its annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser on Friday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church (2001 N Park Rd, Plant City). For $15, each plate includes 1/4 chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and dessert. Proceeds support community programs such as Stuff the Bus, Christmas for an Angel, literacy programs, and more. Pemberton Haunted Acres Seeking Actors
Pemberton Haunted Acres announces auditions for their upcoming haunted attraction season on Sunday, August 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 4802 W Knights Griffin Rd. Both returning and new participants can explore different scare rooms to find their ideal role. Attendees should wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing (avoid jeans), closed-toe shoes, bring bug spray, and come prepared with an adventurous spirit for this immersive experience.
PCPD Promotes Officers
On Thursday, July 31, the Plant City Police Department celebrated the promotions of four dedicated officers: Lieutenant Jason Fowler and Sergeant Christian Lopez of the Information Services Division, along with Sergeant Kevin Toenes and Corporal Thomas Trimble of the Uniformed Patrol Division. Cardel Homes To Hold Ribbon Cutting
Cardel Homes will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 15, at 11:00 a.m. at 3010 Stewart Creek Circle, celebrating the completion of three model homes at Fieldstone, a gated community featuring single-family homes from the $400s (1,805-4,004 sq. ft.).
