+ First Baptist saddles up for Cowboy Church

Plant City’s First Baptist Church will combine faith and farm life with its Cowboy Church and “Not Ashamed” Baptism Celebration at 10 a.m. July 29, at the Plant City Strawberry Festival Agricultural Building, 303 N. Lemon St.

The event will feature a worship service, baptism in troughs and a barbecue chicken lunch following the service. Guests are welcome to wear jeans and cowboy duds.

+ Arts Council plans 2012 benefit

The Arts Council of Plant City will add some sizzle and spice to the community during its annual fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5, at Walden Lake Golf and Country Club, 2001 Clubhouse Drive, Plant City.

Themed “A Hot August Night,” the event will feature a silent auction, performances and more. Money raised will benefit the council’s scholarship fund.

+ Pam Tebow to speak in Plant City

Pam Tebow, mother of former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow, will be the featured speaker at the Pregnancy Care Center of Plant City’s annual banquet at 6 p.m., Nov. 13, at the John R. Trinkle Center, Plant City campus of Hillsborough Community College, 1206 N. Park Road.

Pregnancy Care Center’s Executive Director Darlene Davis said the banquet will have seating for about 600. Tables, she said, will go quickly.

“It will be first come, first served, so I would not wait too long,” she said. “They need to get on the mailing list and get a table reserved.”

Sponsorships, which include a table for eight, range from $500 to $1,000. Individual tickets are $40.

+ YMCA launches school-supply drive

The Plant City Family YMCA is hosting a school-supply drive to assist local children as they head back to school next month.

Donors should bring a new school-supply item of any value by Aug. 12, to the YMCA, 1507 YMCA Place, Plant City. The YMCA will waive new-member enrollment fees for all donors.
