City of Plant City Municipal Runoff To Be Held

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer certified the City of Plant City Municipal Election results, and now the Municipal Runoff is officially underway. Because no candidate received a majority of the votes in either race, the top two candidates for each Group will be on the runoff ballot.

CANDIDATES ON THE BALLOT

City Commissioner, Group 3: Karen Kerr, Tony Smith

City Commissioner, Group 4: John Haney, Camryn Henry

Only registered voters who live in the City of Plant City are eligible to vote in this election. The deadline to register to vote in this election (if not already registered) is April 27. Those who are already registered to vote in Florida can update their name or address at any time.

THREE WAYS TO VOTE

Vote By Mail: Vote By Mail ballot requests expire after every General Election. Voters have until 5:00 p.m. May 14 to request a mail ballot for the Plant City election and can visit VoteHillsborough.gov or call (813) 744-5900 or to make the request.

Ballots were mailed to absent military and overseas voters on April 10, and the office will begin mailing ballots to domestic voters on April 23. Vote By Mail ballots are only mailed to voters who request them.

Voters can mail their Vote By Mail ballot back (no postage required) or drop it off in person at any of the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Offices, or at the Early Voting site during Early Voting hours only. Ballots must be in the elections office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Early Voting: Early Voting will take place at Plant City’s City Hall, 302 W. Reynolds Street, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23.

Election Day: Election Day is Tuesday, May 26. All precincts will vote at Plant City’s City Hall, and voting will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Vote By Mail ballots cannot be accepted at City Hall on Election Day but can be surrendered if the voter chooses to vote in person instead.

Bruton Memorial Library Book Sale

Friends of Bruton Memorial Library invites all Bibliophiles and general Bookworms to an exciting Two-Day Spring Book Sale on April 24 and April 25 at the Plant City library.  Doors open early from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday for members of Friends and from noon to 5:00 p.m. for the general public.  Saturday hours for all are from noon to 3:00 p.m.  Sales are cash only.

All books are gently used and donated to raise funds for library projects and activities throughout the year.  Books for adults, young adults, and children will be available, as will many gift items such as journals, puzzles, book bags, bookmarks, and more that make the perfect gift for teachers and for Mother’s Day.  Especially nice are the popular “Blind Date with a Book” selections, already wrapped and beautifully decorated for gift giving to that special someone who appreciates the escapist power of reading.

PCPD Holds DEA Takeback Day

Mark your calendars, Plant City, for a DEA takeback on Saturday, April 25, located at the Walgreens at 1802 James L. Redman Pkwy.  Please do not bring any needles.
