Mulberry man dies in late-night crash

One Mulberry man died after he was ejected from his vehicle late last night, on State Road 60 west of Bugg Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, at 11:18 p.m. July 15, Prisco Teodoro-Eligio, 34, and Fernanda Faustino Oritz, 29, both of Mulberry, were traveling westbound in a 2000 Mazda MPV on S.R. 60, in the inside travel lane west of Bugg Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved from the inside lane into the outside lane and then traveled off of the roadway. Once on the shoulder of the road, the vehicle collided with a concrete culvert then overturned several times, before colliding with a tree and coming to final rest.

Teodoro-Eligio and Oritz both were unrestrained in the vehicle and ejected as the Mazda overturned. Teodoro-Eligio sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash. Ortiz was transported with serious injuries, to Tampa General Hospital. At this time, it is unknown which occupant driving at the time of the crash.

The FHP investigation is ongoing at this time.
