A fatal crash occurred on State Road 60 near Cable Road at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a 2014 Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by John Borota, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of S.R. 60 and hit a moving 2005 F-250 head-on.
The wrong-way driver died at the scene. The second driver, Tyler Strickland, 28, of Lithia, was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
Eastbound lanes near the intersection were closed for five hours.
