A 22-year-old Plant City man was arrested Thursday, Aug. 20, for DUI manslaughter in a February crash, in which his passenger died, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Hector Estrella Jr., of Plant City, was arrested without incident at about 8:15 p.m. A toxicology test revealed Estrella had a blood alcohol level of 0.128 after the crash.
On Feb. 22 at about 6:15 a.m., Estrella Jr. was driving a 2001 Toyota southbound on County Road 39, south of Old Welcome Road, at about 55 mph when he drove off the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned the vehicle.
Passenger Sonia E. Roldan, 22, of Plant City, was asleep in the back seat of the vehicle. She was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Roldan died at the scene.
