Plant City NOKINGS Rally #2
The NO KINGS protests are organized by organizations such as Indivisible, 50501, the Third Act Movement, and other progressive organizations. These protests consist of regular working people across America exhibiting their frustration and anger against authoritarian policies of Donald Trump and his administration’s ongoing corruption. Protesters have been expressing concern over the erosion of their democratic values, cruel immigration enforcement, federal troops in cities, cuts to health care, and several other issues affecting their lives. Here in our own Plant City, the Plant City Area Dems organized a protest on Saturday, October 18, in front of City Hall. It was extremely successful as well as peaceful, with approximately 275 people rallying together. The signs were creative, original, and vulgar free. The show of unity was quite invigorating, and the energy was contagious. People, young and old, attended. There were even children there with their parents.
A big thank you to the passing cars who expressed their support with waving hands and honking horns. Additionally, a huge thanks to the PCPD for being on alert if needed. Lastly, thank you to all who organized, protested peacefully, and marshalled the event. It is quite satisfying to know that we, Plant City residents, contributed to the over seven million people rallying in this demonstration. Hopefully, as Sam Cooke’s song is titled, “A Change is Gonna Come.”
