The runoff election for two Plant City Commission seats is coming over Memorial Day weekend.Voting is at City Hall with early voting on May 22 and 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. And Election Day on May 26 from 7:00 a.m. To 7:00 p.m.
Qualities I expect for such a candidate are as follows:
*proven years of leadership representing local clubs, Chamber, or professional organizations.
*fiscal responsibility, personally and business-related
*knowledge of the workings of Plant City government. Candidate should have been attending years of Commission meetings and be familiar with Hillsborough County and Florida agencies.
*a deep level of commitment to our community that embraces our past, present, and future
*knowing how to balance a huge workload while delivering the best choice for this community.
Camryn Henry is a new resident to Plant City, has no community leadership, lacks community involvement, and any leadership experience. I recently became aware that Henry filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy 6 months ago to avoid paying over $50,000 in consumer and credit card debt. It appears she’s irresponsible with her wallet, including the recent purchase of a jet ski. I am deeply concerned that this 26-year-old candidate, who’s already in her first Bankruptcy, is NOT financially skilled or disciplined to oversee Plant City’s $140 Million dollar plus annual budget. Wanting to spend more on City services, more dollars for homeless, used drug needle boxes around town, and increasing pay to certain City employees. Her lack of financial accountability speaks volumes. It is my belief that Camryn Henry, after bankrupting herself, would put our City and tax-paying citizens on the same path to financial destruction.
In researching John Haney, I found a man who has been deeply involved in our local community and civic organizations such as past President of Rotary, past Chairman of the Plant City Chamber of Commerce, and board member of Mainstreet. He has continued looking out for the best interests of his hometown by being present at years of commission meetings. Haney has lived in Plant City his whole life. He owns his own business in historic downtown Plant City and also runs a family cattle business. Haney appears to be a seasoned, successful businessman with a good reputation and with at least a 25-year track record of fiscal responsibility. To be clear, that means no bankruptcies, no foreclosures, and no criminal history. John Haney is the right choice for the Group 4 seat and should be yours as well on May 26. Haney has the experience, leadership skills, and fiscal accountability to be a Plant City Commissioner. My research shows John Haney has exceeded my expectations. John Haney is experienced, careful to evaluate, fiscally responsible, and is ready to make the educated and tough decisions for Plant City. Vote John Haney for Group 4.
Ms. Henry has stated she has the knowledge and background to run a City. I do not think it is too much to ask where she obtained that knowledge and background.
Sincerely,
Judith A. Wise
