October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hungry Howie’s again brought attention to fighting this cancer with Love, Hope, and Pizza. For every pizza sold in October, a donation will be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. People can round up their bills to donate, and also make donations through the company website. On October 17, the Hungry Howie’s location at 208 N Alexander St. held a Breast Cancer Bash aimed at bringing awareness and support to those affected by breast cancer.
The event featured live music, face painting for kids, and an appearance by a local breast cancer chapter sharing resources and information for families in the community. In addition to pizza, there was free food in the parking lot. Two food trucks set up, one offering cookies, and the other handing out snoballs. Also, a tent offered free loaded nachos.
“This is my eighth year of doing this,” owner Ali Sobh said. “Each year as my business has grown, so has the ability to do more for breast cancer survivors and current goers. Two years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. This is the biggest charity event that I do each year, and this is the one that is most dear to me.”
