How does mosquito pest control work?

Mosquitos — those nasty little bug that seem to be everywhere. Mosquito season in Florida is no walk in the park (and sometimes comes in the way of taking an actual walk in a park).

On the cusp of summer’s humidity, how do local pest control companies combat mosquitos? Plant City-based Consolidated Pest Control uses a two-stage system, which includes a fogger and mister.

Stage one

A thermal fogger emits an all-natural compound product that immediately knocks down adult flying insects. It is safe for the family, including pets.

Stage two

A mister applies an insect growth regulator combined with a micro-encapsulated product that chemically bonds to the foliage and disrupts the life cycle of the mosquito. This inhibits the mosquitos’ ability to reproduce. The insect growth regulator can be effective for up to a month. Repeated monthly treatments are recommended.
