Handyman man who killed elderly Dover couple back in Florida after fleeing the state

Michael Herald, a 48-year-old handyman who allegedly killed the elderly couple he worked for, was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail from Kentucky Thursday, May 5. Herald had fled to Kentucky in the couple's Ford Explorer in April.

The victims, Nancy Engelhart, 73, and John Engelhart, 76, were found April 14 in their Dover home on McIntosh Road after Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies were called to do a welfare check.

The complainant said they had not seen the couple in a few days, and their mail was stacked on top of the mail box. The couple's vehicle was missing from the carport.

Deputies found the couple inside of a shed on the property.

Herald has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and armed burglary of a dwelling.
