Veterans Support Future Leaders with Donation to PCHS JROTC.
Members of the AMVETS Post 44 gathered at Plant City High School on May 14 to present a major equipment donation to the school’s JROTC Rifle Team, marking the culmination of months of fundraising efforts dedicated to supporting local students.
At 4:00 p.m., veterans from the Plant City post, located off State Road 60, met with JROTC cadets and instructors First Sergeant Aarik Karlson and Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Cieslo for the official unveiling of approximately $7,500 worth of new rifle equipment donated to the program.
The contribution was funded through proceeds raised during the organization’s annual Ed “EB” Branciforte Memorial Golf Tournament, a longtime community event held in honor of the late veteran and supporter of local youth programs.
Inside the school, cadets had the opportunity to see the new equipment firsthand and personally thank the AMVETS members responsible for helping make the donation possible. The gathering served not only as an unveiling ceremony but also as a moment of connection between generations tied together through service, discipline, and community involvement.
The new equipment is expected to enhance training opportunities for the rifle team and provide cadets with updated resources to support both practice and competition.
For members of AMVETS Post 44, the donation reflects the organization’s continued commitment to investing in local students and youth leadership programs. By channeling funds raised through community events directly back into schools, the veterans organization hopes to create opportunities for students to grow both personally and competitively.
The JROTC Rifle Team, led by Karlson and Cieslo, has become an important part of the school’s leadership and extracurricular offerings, emphasizing responsibility, teamwork, and precision. The donation represents a significant boost for the program as cadets continue developing their skills and representing Plant City High School in competition.
Throughout the event, gratitude flowed both ways. Cadets thanked the veterans for their generosity, while AMVETS members expressed pride in supporting a program focused on leadership, discipline and service to others, values shared by both organizations.
The unveiling concluded with students and veterans gathered around the newly donated equipment, celebrating a partnership rooted in community support and mutual respect.
