First Maid: Deanna Rodriguez

How did you feel when they announced that you had been selected as first maid?

I was just so excited and so lucky to be on the court and have a great year with the girls.

Who is someone you want to thank for support and encouragement?

I definitely have to thank my mom, because she was in the Strawberry Court, and so she had a lot of advice to give. She always was positive and kept me on track.

How will your experience as first maid help you reach your career or personal goals?

Being first maid will help me in the field with public speaking. I want to be in public relations. It’s going to help me get to know myself better.

What is your strategy for balancing this busy year of school, applying for college and serving as first maid?

It will be a busy schedule, but I’ll work with my school. They’re really flexible with us. And I’ll have a great time and try not to stress about all that.

What is something few people know?

I’m an only girl, and I have three brothers. I play soccer, I wasn’t always a pageant girl. I’d always be in the backyard playing football.
