An annual tradition continues.
According to “The Farmer’s Almanac,” the first sign of spring is birds singing. The first sign of the Florida Strawberry Festival is the little community that camps out to be the first ones in line to get tickets for the singing at the festival.
“There are a lot more people this year than there were last year,” Jackie McCoy said. “There are at least 12 people. I think it is because of the awesome bands they have this year.”
McCoy and Donna Elliott got in line and set up their tents on November 30. “This is probably year 15 for me,” Elliott said. The overnight temperature on Tuesday dropped to 52 degrees. “We’ve been colder,” she said. However, the heavy rain on December 8 was the worst ever. “That was a nightmare. That was terrible. It was crazy because the rain came from nowhere. I woke up in a waterbed.”
However, these stalwarts will get front row tickets for any of the concerts they want when the box office opens on December 11.
