The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and more than 40 industry partners will host a transportation industry hiring event on Wednesday, March 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds, 215 Sydney Washer Rd. in Dover. The event, named Road to Your Future, is one of a series of events strategically designed to strengthen the state’s transportation workforce to ensure the continuous delivery of a safe and efficient transportation system.

Job seekers are invited to pre-register to attend at RoadToYourFuture.com. There is no cost to register or attend. Open positions are for entry-level personnel as well as experienced professionals in various sectors of the transportation industry and include skilled trades, repair crewmen, traffic engineers, heavy equipment operators, professional engineers, highway maintenance technicians, project managers, general laborers, foremen, interns and more. By pre-registering and completing an online job application, job seekers will be eligible to be hired on-site for positions offered by FDOT. Many of the open positions involve on-the-job training. FDOT is dedicated to workforce development, and this initiative is supported by Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature’s commitment to enhance Florida’s transportation infrastructure.

“The transportation sector provides numerous avenues for a promising future with jobs ranging from engineers designing secure roads to maintenance technicians ensuring seamless travel, as well as administrative professionals delivering essential support to keep operations running smoothly,” said Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue, P.E. “By choosing a career in transportation, individuals are getting on the road to a brighter future for themselves and their community.”

During FDOT’s first Road to Your Future event last month in Jacksonville, the  Department made its first-ever on-site hire, reflecting the immediate impact and effectiveness of the Road to Your Future initiative. Additionally, industry partners also hired on-site and recruited talent for a wide range of other positions ranging from surveyors and communications professionals to mechanics and drivers.
