Before campaign signs and political ads make their final push, local voters will have a chance to hear directly from the people asking for their vote.
The Plant City Chamber of Commerce will host its 2026 Candidate Forum, giving residents an opportunity to meet candidates, learn where they stand on local issues and make more informed decisions ahead of the Aug. 18 primary election.
The free event begins with a meet-and-greet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Trinkle Center, when attendees have the chance to speak one-on-one with candidates in an informal setting. The forum program follows at 6:30 p.m., with candidates sharing their priorities and vision for the community.
Attendees can also take part in a non-binding straw poll, offering a snapshot of voter sentiment before ballots are officially cast next month.
The chamber is encouraging residents, business owners and first-time voters alike to attend, calling the forum an opportunity to engage in the democratic process beyond campaign mailers and social media posts.
The event comes as the primary election season ramps up. The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is July 20. Early voting runs Aug. 3-16, and Election Day is Aug. 18. Voters requesting a vote-by-mail ballot must do so by Aug. 6, and completed ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Admission to the Candidate Forum is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
