Detectives seeking armed robbery suspect in Plant City

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives say Jose Alberto Esparza has several outstanding warrants and is at large in Plant City.

Jose Alberto "Albert" Esparza is allegedly on the loose in Plant City, and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking help from the public.

Detectives say that Esparza, 39, has several outstanding warrants and was last known to be in the Plant City area. He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, and is known to be armed.

Esparza is facing charges of Home Invasion Robbery with Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Burglary of Unoccupied Dwelling, Grand Theft $300-$5000, Possession of Controlled Substance, Carrying Concealed Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Short-Barreled Rifle and Possession of Firearm with Altered Serial Number.

Anyone with information about Esparza's whereabouts is being asked to call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200, or to contact Crime Stoppers Tampa Bay anonymously for a cash reward. UPDATE: Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office confirmed to the Plant City Times & Observer Monday, April 17, that Esparza's vehicle, mentioned and pictured in an earlier version of this story, has been impounded.
