Cops Corner 12.26.14

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant CIty Police Department.

DEC. 6

NEW HAIRCUT

200 block of West Alexander Street. Petit Theft. Officers responded to the store and met with an employee who advised that a suspect stole a barber’s cape.

THE STREET BEAT

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. Officers met with loss prevention officials, who advised that the suspect attempted to steal headphones valued at $69.74. He was detained as he attempted to leave the store. The suspect was arrested.

LOADED PLATE

300 block of East Calhoun Street. Recovered/Stolen Tag. Officers responded in reference to a stolen tag being attached to a recently impounded vehicle. The tag was reported stolen out of Tampa. The tag was recovered and impounded.

LATE ON RENT

300 block of East Calhoun Street. Recovered/Stolen Vehicle. While investigating a stolen tag, officers also recovered a vehicle previously reported stolen by a rental car agency. A vehicle was confirmed as stolen, and removed from FCIC/NCIC.

INCENSE BURNER

1900 block of West Alexander Street. Possession of synthetic cannabinoids. Officers arrested two suspects on charges of possession of “spice.” The suspects were transported to Orient Road Jail.

ONE TOO MANY

Alexander Street/Plantation Drive. D.U.I. Officers arrested a suspect for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. The suspect was turned over to Orient Road Jail.

DEC. 7

SHATTERED DREAMS

2800 block of North Maryland Avenue. Criminal Mischief. Officers responded to someone who was reporting a damaged vent window to his neighbor’s motor home. The owner of the motor home was in the hospital. A window break was heard earlier, at approximately 2 a.m. No entry was made, as the window was too small for anyone to fit through it.

HOT WIRED

700 block of East Baker Street. Vehicle Theft Attempt/Criminal Mischief. Officers responded in reference to an attempted theft of a 1998 black Ford Expedition. The victim had last seen it secure the previous night at 6 p.m. and found his door lock and steering column damaged in the morning. After inspecting the contents, he found nothing missing.

STUNNING DELIVERY

Walter Drive/Pevetty Drive. Robbery/car jacking. A victim advised that he worked for a pizza restaurant and had been in the area making a delivery, when a suspect attacked him with a stun gun and hit him in the head with an unknown object before taking his vehicle. The vehicle was recovered on Coronet Street. The victim’s wallet, along with his money, was located inside the vehicle. A Tom Tom GPS and two pizzas were missing.

BEHIND THE WHEEL

East Alexander Street/James L. Redman Parkway. D.U.I. A suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The suspect was released to Orient Road Jail.

DEC. 8

IRONS CHEF

3400 block of Walden Reserves Drive. Residential Burglary. Over the weekend, unknown suspect(s) entered this new construction home and stole approximately $1,000 worth of kitchen cabinets.

JUST THE WIND?

900 block of West Reynolds Street. Information Report/Possible Burglary. Officers were sent to a duplex in reference to a possible burglary. The neighbors heard noises in the apartment the previous night, and the next day, they found the front door pried open. It is unknown what, if anything, was stolen from the apartment.

BIKE COP

4300 block of Barrett Avenue. Found Bicycle. Officers responded to the residence in reference to a found bicycle by the homeowner. Officers took custody of the bicycle and brought it to PCPD.

DEC. 9

DETENTION

1200 block of West Grant Street. Battery on School Official. Officers responded to a school in reference to a subject causing a disturbance in the class and pushing the school principal.

PANT RAID

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Petit Theft (Shoplifting). Officers responded to the store in reference to a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers met with loss prevention officials, who stated a suspect stole two pairs of Dickie pants and left the store without paying.

COMPUTER PROBLEMS

3300 block of Kilmer Drive. Grand Theft. Officers responded to the residence in reference to the theft of an ASUS Transformer Book.

REINDEER RUN

100 block of North Palmer Street. Traffic Crash. A 2004 Ford truck with a horse trailer struck a City of Plant City Christmas display in front of the train depot. The truck’s trailer knocked over a lighted reindeer, bending the support struts. The estimated damage was $300. A traffic crash long form was completed.

MAKE A DEPOSIT

4600 block of Copper Lane. Residential Burglary. Officers responded to the residence in reference to a burglary.  Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant, who stated unknown person(s) entered her home and stole $2,000 in cash.

CHECKERED PAST

4300 block of State Road 574 West. Worthless Checks. A suspect was arrested for passing $3,000 in worthless checks at a store over a week-long period. The suspect was later transported to HCSO Orient Road Jail without incident.

DEC. 10

FEEL THE RYTHMN

1600 block of East Alabama Street. Burglary Vehicle. Officers met with a victim who advised someone had stolen a JVC brand CD player worth approximately $150 from his red Nissan truck.

DOUBLE WHAMMY

2400 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. Officers responded to a store in reference to a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers met with loss prevention officials, who advised a subject had taken merchandise and fled the store on foot. The suspect was later apprehended and placed under arrest for the theft and for outstanding warrants. She was transported to Orient Road Jail without incident.

DRILLED

2800 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. Officers responded to a store in reference to a theft. They met with loss prevention officials, who advised a suspect had attempted to take a drill worth $299. The suspect was detained and later arrested by PCPD.
