Cops Corner 12.02.16

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

Nov. 18

ROAD RAGE

Sammonds Road/Highway 574.

Aggravated assault with motor vehicle, possession of marijuana: Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and made contact with the subject, who was arrested for assault with a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.

GRINCH PRACTICE

100 block of West Reynolds Street.

Theft: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) possibly stole a package delivered to a business. The United States Postal Service sent her confirmation that a package was delivered Saturday, Nov. 12, but the package was not there when the owner arrived to work.

FAKE IT ’TIL YOU MAKE IT

2510 block of James L. Redman Parkway.

Counterfeit bill: Officers responded to a convenience store and obtained a counterfeit $10 bill that a customer had attempted to use. The customer was unaware that the bill was counterfeit, and it was placed in PCPD evidence.

BEER ME, BRO

Lemon Street/Granfield Avenue.

Battery: Officers met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) in a vehicle threw an opened can of beer at him.

Nov. 19

MAKING IT EASY

2300 block of Maki Road.

Stolen vehicle: A black Cadillac SRX SUV, which had been left unlocked with the keys in the vehicle, was stolen from a parking space after last being seen at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The vehicle was found one day later.

GUN CONTROL

1400 block of North Gordon Street.

Vehicle burglary: Officer met with complainant, who stated he had gone shopping and left a 9mm Taurus semi-automatic pistol in a side pocket in his vehicle. Upon returning to the vehicle, he noticed that the gun was missing. Complainant did not choose to have the burglary investigated and signed a waiver of prosecution, but did want the gun to be reported as stolen.

Nov. 20

CROSSING CRISIS

North Park Road/East Baker Street.

DUI, providing a false name, warrant: Officers arrested a drunk driver for DUI after he had crashed his car into a railroad crossing arm. It was later determined that the subject had given officers a false name, and that he had an active warrant out of Collier County for violation of probation DUI with person or property damage.

CLEANED OUT

10 block of South Gordon Street.

Armed robbery, auto theft: Officers met with complainant, who stated he was robbed of his money, cell phone, car and the pizza he was supposed to deliver to that residence.

Nov. 22

BAD NIGHT’S SLEEP

20 block of A Street.

Grand theft: Officers met with complainant, who stated possible known suspect(s) stole money she had been stashing underneath her bed’s mattress. Complainant stated that $300 of her $500 stash was missing, and that she suspected her family, but signed a waiver of prosecution.

Nov. 24

X-GAMES PLANT CITY

East Cherry Street/North Knight Street: Officer saw several subjects driving dirt bikes recklessly around a residential area and attempted a traffic stop. All but two drivers, one adult and one juvenile, fled the scene. The adult was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest with violence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The juvenile was also arrested.
