Cops Corner 07.24.15

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

JULY 10

BEATS BANDIT

2900 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Business burglary. Officers responded to a business in reference to a reported burglary. Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) smashed through a window, entered the building and made off with eight pairs of Beats by Dre headphones.

LAWNMOWER LARCENY

1000 block of East Gilchrist Street. Grand theft. Officers responded to this location in reference to a theft. Complainant reported that a $325 lawnmower had been stolen.

JULY 11

HOW SHOCKING

2300 block of Maki Road. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to an apartment complex in reference to a vehicle burglary. Complainant reported a stun gun, a handgun and a laptop computer were stolen from their vehicle.

PEDALS TO THE METAL

200 block of South Waller Street. Bike theft. Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) stole a purple, 26-inch men’s style mountain bike from an apartment complex.

PLANNING AHEAD

2300 block of Maki Road. Criminal mischief. Officer responded to a report of locks on a front door being damaged by an unknown suspect(s).

JULY 12

NICE TRY

600 block of North Maryland Avenue. Grand theft. Officer responded to the area following a report of disturbance. Complainant reported their wallet, containing $250 in cash, was stolen. The total value of the wallet and money was $300. Following an investigation, a suspect was arrested for grand theft.

JULY 13

BAD CASE OF THE MONDAYS

110 block of East Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. Abandoned vehicle. Officers responded to a municipal parking lot following report of a vehicle blocking traffic. Officers located a 2010 Honda sedan, which was parked on a curb blocking the entrance and appeared to be stuck. The vehicle’s owner could not be reached after multiple attempts, so the vehicle was impounded.

RENTAL RUCKUS

1000 block of North Johnson Street. Residential burglary/criminal mischief. Officer responded to a report of an empty rental property being burglarized and vandalized by an unknown suspect(s).

NEED A DRINK?

200 block of West Alexander Street. Shoplifting/petit theft. Officers responded to a business in reference to a theft. Complainant reported three bottles of alcohol had been stolen.

JULY 14

PRINTING ERROR

200 block of East Reynolds Street. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to the location in reference to a vehicle burglary. Complainant reported that an unknown suspect(s) broke into his 2012 Ford F-150 work truck, damaging the lock on the driver’s side door, and stole his work printer.

LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS

500 block of Allen Street. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to a residence in reference to a vehicle burglary. Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) entered their 2002 Chevrolet SUV. The vehicle was left unlocked at the time.

THIRSTY THIEVES

1800 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Petit theft. Officer responded to a business and met with the complainant, who reported that three suspects each grabbed a can of soda from a cooler behind the front desk. The complainant reported that he had already made contact with the suspects and terminated their memberships. Complainant signed a waiver of prosecution.

LOST AND FOUND

2200 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Found property. Officer met with complainant, who reported that he had found a tennis bracelet in the parking lot. The bracelet, which had diamonds in it, was estimated to be worth $500. Because no reports of lost property had been made with the businesses it was entered into property for safekeeping.

JULY 15

TWO BIRDS, ONE STONE

1200 block of Goldfinch Drive. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to an apartment complex in reference to a vehicle burglary. Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) entered their yellow 2007 Chevrolet Aveo and stole a wallet, as well as the key to another vehicle. The Chevrolet was left unlocked at the time.

GUN GRABBER

3000 block of Sutton Woods Drive. Vehicle burglary/theft. Complainant reported that, overnight, an unknown suspect(s) entered a white 2003 Ford F-250 and stole a .45-caliber Smithfield Arms handgun, as well as two wallets.
