Cops Corner 03.18.16

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

March 4

TAILGATE TROUBLE

1700 block of North Maryland Avenue. Grand theft. Complainant reported that, overnight, unknown suspect(s) stole the tailgate off of his white 2014 Ford F-450 truck. The tailgate was valued at $3,500.

LEFT HANGING

South Jackson Street and Douglas Street. Abandoned vehicle. Officer responded to an area in reference to a vehicle partially blocking the roadway. A white 2001 Oldsmobile SIlhouette minivan, which the officer had red-tagged March 1, was towed and then registered as abandoned.

SWEET TOOTH

2850 block of Thonotosassa Road. Theft. Officer responded to a business in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) had stolen candy, seven t-shirts and an auto accessory.

March 5

THE PLOT THICKENS

500 block of Sandalwood Drive. Grand theft. Complainant reported that, overnight, unknown suspect(s) stole a blue and gold-colored tailgate off of a 2015 Ford F-250 truck. The tailgate was valued at $2,500.

2005 block of Sycamore Lane. Grand theft. Complainant reported that, overnight, unknown suspect(s) stole a blue tailgate off of a 2008 Ford F-250 truck. The tailgate was valued at $1,000. At the same time, the tailgate of a blue 2009 Ford F-250 was also found to be missing.

TAKE YOUR TIME

900 block of East Tomlin Street. Delayed vehicle burglary. Officers responded to a residence in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole two watched from a black 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

March 6

FROM TAILGATES TO TRUCKS

3500 block of West Highway 574. Stolen vehicle. Officers responded to a business in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) had stolen a black 2014 Ford F-350 truck.

EASY ACCESS

500 block of West Ball Street. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole her purse from her vehicle, which she had left unlocked.

ASSUMPTION OR PRESUMPTION?

1930 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail theft. Officer responded to a business in reference to a reported retail theft. Complainant stated that he had witnessed two men and one woman – all Hispanic – enter the store and steal a tool. Complainant could not identify for put a cash value on the tool, but was confident that the suspects had stolen something. The suspects had left the store before the police arrived, and the case was closed with a waiver of prosecution.

March 7

SKETCHY

North Evers Street/Northwest Drane Street. Possession of meth/paraphernalia. Officer responded to an area in reference to a suspicious person report. Contact was made with the suspect, who was soon arrested on charges on possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and destruction of evidence.

BACKPACK BANDIT

1100 block of North Johnson Street. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole a backpack, containing his personal belongings and medication, from his Chevrolet Equinox. The vehicle had been left unlocked. Complainant’s possessions were later recovered.

March 8

TRAILER TROUBLES

600 block of West Saunders Street. Grand theft. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole a 5×8 trailer, which was loaded with a 48-inch John Deere riding lawnmower and a 24-inch Husqvarna push mower. The mowers were valued together at $3,200.

TENT THIEF

1210 block of Camarosa Lane. Petit theft. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole his son’s tent, which had been set up in the front yard.
