Cops Corner 03.10.17

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

Feb. 24

GOOD SAMARITAN

1 Police Place.

Found property: Officer met with complainant, who stated she had found a black leather wallet in a restaurant's parking lot on the 2300 block of James L. Redman Parkway. The wallet contained $1,890.

BAD BREATH BANDIT

2900 block of Hammock Drive.

Vehicle burglary: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle and stolen a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, 50 $1 bills and a pack of Mentos gum.

IN AND OUT

4610 block of State Road 574 West.

Auto theft: Officers met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) had stolen her 2008 Nissan Altima sedan on Monday, Feb. 20, while she was inside a gas station's convenience store.

SLEEP IT OFF

2100 block of West Baker Street.

DUI: Officers responded to a business in reference to a reported suspicious vehicle. They found the vehicle, parked but running, with the driver passed out inside. The driver refused to participate in a DUI test and was arrested.

Feb. 25

BAD TIPPER

2790 block of Thonotosassa Road.

Petit theft: Officer met with complainant, who stated a man had walked up to a restaurant's drive-thru window and stolen money from the tip jar. Subject was located and arrested.

BUBBLE, BUBBLE, TOIL AND TROUBLE

4000 block of Airport Road.

Criminal mischief: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) had poured a liquid onto his 2016 Chevrolet Corvette's front bumper that caused the paint to bubble, causing around $15,000 worth of damage. 

Feb. 26

HIDE AND SEEK

1300 block of South Collins Street.

Petit theft: Officer met with complainant, who stated a known subject had stolen his phone and wallet while he slept on a bus. The subject, a male, stated he did not have the phone or wallet, and a female subject supported the claim. Other witnesses stated that the subjects did, in fact, have the phone and wallet. Following witnesses' suggestions, the wallet was found hidden in a diaper bag carried by the two subjects, and the phone was found inside one of the female subject's shoes. The items were returned, and the complainant signed a waiver of prosecution.

Feb. 27

MUNCHIES

Petit theft/drugs: Officer met with complainant, who stated two make subjects had ordered sub sandwiches from a grocery store and left without paying for them. The subjects were located and arrested. One subject was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Both were released and given court dates.

CONCEALMENT IS KEY

2810 block of Holly Bluff Court.

Vehicle burglary: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked work truck and stole a Crown Royal whiskey bag containing 60 keys and $400 in cash.

Feb. 28

SKETCHY LANDLORD

600 block of South Gordon Street.

Information report: Officer met with complainant, who stated that her landlord hired a cleaning crew to enter her home and get rid of her property. The crew members stated that they were told the complainant had been evicted from the home, but further investigation determined that the complainant had not been lawfully evicted. An information report was completed for documentation.
