Cops Corner 02.26.16

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

Feb. 11

TAKE CAR BATTERY, COMMIT CAR BATTERY

1500 block of East Neil Street. Felony criminal mischief/petit theft. Officers responded to a residence in reference to a reported criminal mischief. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole a car battery and a license plate, and then caused damage by gun shots.

BEATEN TO THE BANK

1300 block of Tennessee Street. Criminal use of personal information. Officers met with Complainant, who stated that he learned someone had stolen his identity. Complainant stated that, when he attempted to open a bank account, he learned that unknown suspect(s) had been using his information to open several revolving credit accounts.

Feb. 12

SMARTPHONE SNATCHER

610 block of North Maryland Avenue. Theft. Officer responded in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that their $200 HTC smartphone had been stolen by unknown suspect(s).

PILL-FERER

700 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue. Theft. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that, one week prior, medication was stolen from his bathroom. Complainant believed that a female acquaintance he knew as “April” had committed the theft, and signed a waiver of prosecution.

Feb. 13

VEHICLE VANDALS

3930 block of Creek Woods Drive. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a location in reference to reported vehicle burglaries. It was determined that three vehicles in the area had been ransacked by unknown suspect(s).

Feb. 14

CASH GRAB

110 block of North Pearl Street. Grand theft. Officer met with Complainant, who stated that unknown suspect(s) stole $500 from her home.

WHY LOCKS EXIST

1740 block of Brookstone Way. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a delayed burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) entered his two vehicles and stole two pairs of Costa Del Mar sunglasses, valued together at $210, and $10 in change. Another complainant, from down the street, stated that unknown suspect(s) stole $4 from his two vehicles. All four vehicles were left unlocked at the time of the burglaries.

NO RESIDENTS, NO WINDOWS

1300 block of East Dr. MLK Boulevard. Criminal mischief. Officer responded in reference to a reported criminal mischief. It was determined that unknown suspect(s) threw a brick through a window of a vacant home, causing $400 in damage.

Feb. 15

GUN GRABBER

2900 block of Juniper Lake Place. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to a residence in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) entered their green 2009 Hyundai SUV and stole a .32-caliber Beretta Tomcat handgun. The SUV had been left unlocked.

TWO CARS, NO LOCKS

2920 block of Spring Hammock Drive. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) entered his Nissan Quest and stole $8 in quarters, and then stole a green, $5 hunting knife from his wife’s Honda CR-V. Both vehicles had been left unlocked.

Feb. 16

FORGOT SOMETHING

4300 block of Country Hills Boulevard. Accidental injury. Officers responded to South Florida Baptist Hospital in reference to a man coming in with a gunshot wound. It was determined that the man, who has a concealed weapons permit, accidentally shot himself in the foot while cleaning his .380-caliber Cobra pistol. Police checked the gun out and, after investigating at his home, found evidence to confirm the man’s story.

SCARING THE NEIGHBORS

West Ball Street/South Gibbs Street. Information report. Officers responded to the area in reference to reports of a man walking down the street with a rifle. Contact was made with the suspect, and officers found a pump-style BB gun in the grass nearby. The gun was seized and placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Feb. 17

BLOCKED

700 block of Sunset Road. Grand theft. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole four wheels and tires, valued together at $3,000.
