Cops Corner 02.19.16

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

Feb. 6

KICKS AND NICKS

3500 block of West Baker Street. Retail theft/possession of marijuana. Officer responded to a business in reference to a reported retail theft. Suspect was arrested for stealing a pair of shoes, valued at $20, and was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT

North Park Road/South Frontage Road. Stolen vehicle/leaving scene. Officers responded to an area in reference to a vehicle crash. A vehicle was determined to have crashed in the median, and another vehicle – which was later reported stolen, was involved.

Feb. 7

PUT A RING ON IT

3820 block of Crystal Dew Street. Vehicle burglary. Complainant reported that, overnight, unknown suspect(s) entered a black Jeep and stole a wallet, a silver ring and hand tools. The items were valued together at $600. The Jeep had been left unlocked.

CLEANED OUT

1600 block of East Dr. MLK Boulevard. Vehicle burglary. Officers responded to a report of vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle and stole a brown wallet, containing $300 and several credit cards.

CALLING THEIR BLUFF

600 block of Carolina Avenue. Information report. Officer met with Complainant, who stated that an unknown suspect called her, threatening to blow up her home at midnight if she did not send them money. Complainant refused, and officers conducted a special watch. No explosive equipment was found, no suspicious activity was observed and the victim’s house was not blown up.

COLD FEET?

100 block of North Gordon Street. Criminal mischief. Officer responded to a business in reference to a report of criminal mischief. Two pieces of cinder block were found near a window, which had been broken. An estimated $500 in damage was done to the glass.

Feb. 9

PUNCHED UP, PEACED OUT

3210 block of Sydney Road. Simple battery. Officer responded to a business in reference to a disturbance between two employees. One man had left the scene, and the other stated that he had been punched. The remaining man refused to prosecute and signed a waiver.

EXTRA RENOVATION

3210 block of Magnolia Meadows Drive. Criminal mischief. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. It was determined that unknown suspect(s) caused $500 in damage to the walls of the home, and stole a door worth $260. The homebuilder signed a waiver of prosecution and used the case number to file an insurance claim.

POOL PARTY POOPER

3440 block of Silverstone Court. Grand theft. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole a pool pump and filter from a vacant home, and the items were valued together over $500.

SOD SWINDLER

1100 block of North Warnell Street. Theft. Officers responded to a residence in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that, over the course of several weeks, unknown suspect(s) had been stealing sod from her front yard.
