Cops Corner 02.24.17

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained form the Plant City Police Department.

Feb. 10

UNDER PRESSURE

4420 block of Country Hills Boulevard.

Grand theft auto: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) stole her 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, as well as two pressure washers and other tools that were in the truck’s bed at the time. The theft occurred between 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, and the morning of Friday, Feb. 10.

CANDY LAND

2210 block of North Park Road.

Shoplifting: Officer met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) had stolen several candy bars from a convenience store.

THANKS FOR BANKING

1 Police Place.

Fraud: Officer met with complainant, who stated an unknown suspect had used his GTE bank card at a bank in the 2200 block of James L. Redman Parkway on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The suspect had made transactions of $403 and $383.

FOR THE ACTIVE GAMER

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway.

Shoplifting: Officer met with complainant, who stated a subject had stolen a bicycle seat and three video games, totaling $47.82, on Saturday, Feb. 4. The subject was identified, arrested and released with a court date.

Feb. 11

IT WASN’T ME

310 block of East Tomlin Street.

Simple battery: Officer responded to a 911 call and met with a subject, who stated she did not call 911 or require assistance. Subject told the officer that it was possible two other women could have called 911, but that she wasn’t sure. After refusing to cooperate further, subject signed a waiver of prosecution.

FINESSED

1700 block of West Ball Street.

Fraud: Officer met with complainant, who stated she had been scammed out of $1,150. Complainant had rented a house from a male subject from Wednesday, Feb. 1, through Friday, Feb. 3, and had paid that deposit after signing a lease, but later learned that the house was owned by Fannie Mae.

DEADBOLT’S DOWNFALL

600 block of East Alexander Street.

Criminal mischief: Officers met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) had damaged the deadbolt lock on his apartment door.

FASHIONISTA

1310 block of East Warren Street.

Vehicle burglary: Officers met with complainant, who stated unknown suspect(s) broke the passenger side window of her Toyota Camry and stole two Victoria’s Secret brand duffle bags.

STOP SIGN SNOOZE

Woodrow Wilson Street/Sammonds Road.

DUI: Officers responded to an intersection following a report of a driver passed out at a stop sign. They found the driver asleep at the wheel of his truck and arrested him.

Feb. 12

LOST AND FOUND

2200 block of James L. Redman Parkway.

Found property: Officer met with complainant, who stated someone had left $213 near a personal weight scale at a grocery store. The money was later claimed by a man who arrived at PCPD headquarters and said he had left it in a shopping cart.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT

1300 block of South Collins Street.

Attempted auto theft/drug investigation: Officers responded to a business in reference to a reported suspicious person on the property and found the subject attempting to steal a vehicle. Subject was arrested for attempted auto theft, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana under 20 grams.

Feb. 13

AIRING IT OUT

300 block of North Michigan Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Officer responded to a construction site following a report of criminal mischief and found that unknown suspect(s) had smashed out the windows of a trailer. The damage, which occurred between 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, and 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, was estimated at $800.
