Cocoa Beach man dies in I-4 crash

A 70-year-old Cocoa Beach man died in a four car pile up on Interstate 4 Sept. 17. The accident occurred just after 12 p.m. near the Alexander Street exit at mile marker 21.

Armin G. Wolle was taken to South Florida Baptist Hospital where he died.

The accident happened after two drivers slowed for traffic and a third failed to stop.

Robert Chouinard, 65, of Tampa, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet van in the eastbound inside lane. He slowed down. In response, Danny Cooke, 60, of  Cape Canaveral, who was driving a a 2003 Chrysler van, also slowed. A 2001 Chevrolet SUV struck the rear end of Cooke’s Chrysler. Cooke was propelled forward and struck Chouinard’s Chevrolet.

Cooke continued to travel toward the center lane. The 2001 Chevrolet also traveled into the center lane, colliding with a fourth vehicle driven by Janelle Makowski, 55, of Largo.

Wolle was in the vehicle driven by Cooke.
