GIVES GIFTS DURING 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
On December 7, Brewington’s Towing & Recovery kicked off their first-ever 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway when they posted on their Facebook page, “…it’s going to be epic! We will be giving away a bunch of hot holiday items, electronics, gift cards and even cash! Stay tuned to our page and make sure to like and follow so you can get updates in real time. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Good luck!”
Each of the following days, Brewington’s posted, asked for responses, and randomly chose responders as winners.
On December 8, the giveaway was two $100 Visa gift cards. The business asked entrants to tell them their favorite thing about Christmas, and 409 people did so. “Each day I post what is going to be given away, and then the next morning, we pick randomly through the commenters to get the winners,” Kristie Brewington said. “Then I post the next day’s giveaway.”
To get the prizes, winners contact Brewington’s and make arrangements to pick up the gift.
“It is just me,” Kristie commented. “I am a gift-giver. I love it. It is the only way we can truly say, ‘Thank you,’ to the community. I feel like we are always seeing people on their toughest days. So, this is a way to give back to our customers and community.”
Brewington’s Towing & Recovery started out in 1935 as a full-service Amoco station, owned and operated by Dillard Brewington. In 1973, while helping out his dad, David Brewington bought a pickup truck and mounted a small boom in the bed. From the one truck, Brewington’s has grown into 20 vehicle tow trucks and another 20 pieces of equipment, some of them similar to cranes, and powerful enough to move heavy equipment like semi-truck trailers and even trains.
“I have pretty much done this on my own,” Kristie said. “They just kind of gave me the green light to go with it. It was to celebrate our 90 years.”
The rest of the posts continued to draw followers, comments, and winners.
Day 2 – Six winners of $50 Amazon gift cards; “Tell us your favorite Christmas song.”
Day 3 – Three winners of $100 gas gift cards; “What is your favorite Christmas movie?”
Day 4 – Four winners of $50 Publix gift cards; “Tell us what your favorite holiday food is.”
Day 5 – Four winners of $50 Lowe’s gift cards; “Tell us your favorite place to visit at Christmas time.”
Day 6 of the 12 days of giving back was two 40” smart TVs; “Tell us what your favorite Christmas memory is.”
Day 7 was different. The Facebook page commented, “Sunday is the Lord’s day, so with that being said, I wanted to help you be able to bless someone one. Today I want to know what is one thing you would love to get someone in your life who is very important to you for Christmas. I’m going to pick three of you to be able to make that happen.” The requests were so heartfelt, that Kristie selected 11 people.
Day 8 of the 12 days of giving was four winners of Outback gift cards; “Tell us what type of Christmas you prefer, snow and cold or sunshine and warm.”
At the time of going to press, days eight through 12 still remain. Go to https://www.facebook.com/brewingtonstowing to find out what happened.
“I have always been taught to bless others as the Lord has blessed me,” Kristie said. “Being able to do for others like this truly blesses my heart in ways that I can’t even explain, and that is why I truly enjoy giving back.”
