Macy is a senior who attends Durant High School and cheers for the Cougars Varsity Cheerleading Team.

How long have you been cheerleading?

I have been cheerleading for 8 years.

What’s your favorite thing about cheerleading?

My favorite thing about cheerleading is definitely the amazing friendships I have made throughout the years and being able to perform with my best friends.

If you had to pick a sport to try out for this year between flag football or volleyball, what would you choose and why?

Probably volleyball because it’s always looked really fun and I played in middle  school and love it.

Do you and your team have any pre-game rituals before you cheer?

Before games, we always come together and have a team meal. Also, my stunt group gets together and does our handshake for good luck.

If you’re not cheering, what are you doing in your free time?

If I’m not cheering I’m definitely out shopping with my best friends!

Has cheerleading taught you any life lessons? If so, what?

Cheerleading has taught me so many lessons but most importantly it showed me to never give up, every time I stunt or tumble and I fail, my coaches have always pushed me to try again until I get it right. It has also shown me the importance of persistence and hard work when you truly have a passion for something.

If you could give advice to someone wanting to cheerlead for the first time, what advice would you give them?

I would tell someone who wants to start cheering to just always smile and have a positive attitude even when it’s frustrating sometimes because it’s such an amazing sport.

Who’s an artist that you’d love to see at the Strawberry Festival this year?

An artist I would love to see at the Florida strawberry festival this year is Megan Moroney.

If you could eat from one place for a week straight, what would you pick and why?

If I had to eat at one place for a week straight I would pick Taco Bell since I already go literally about 4 times a week.

What’s your favorite song to get you hyped for game day?

My favorite hype song is Headlines by Drake
