Georgia Hicks is a 14-year-old freshman at Durant High School. She’s cheered for the Plant City Dolphins for the past four years and has done gymnastics for almost eight years.
How long have you been cheering?
I have been cheering for approximately five years.
What’s your favorite thing about cheering?
Tumbling is my favorite part of cheerleading
What would you consider the hardest thing about cheering?
The hardest thing I consider about cheerleading is learning new dances for competition.
What’s your favorite memory from cheering?
Answer: My favorite memory was competing in my first competition with my team.
What advice would you give someone who wanted to get into cheering?
The advice that I would give to somebody that wanted to start cheerleading would be to make sure to take it serious and always stay positive.
What’s an area of cheering that you want to improve on?
Toe touching/jumps is part of cheerleading that I would like to improve.
What’s harder out of cheer and gymnastics, and why?
In gymnastics, you have to do bars and beams. More pressure.
Do you have a favorite out of the two sports?
Cheer is my favorite.
When you’re not cheering, what are you doing in your free time?
On the river, paddleboarding and private lessons to increase my tumbling skills.
What’s a sport that you haven’t played yet, that you would like to try?
The other sport I would like to try is lacrosse, and I plan on trying out for Durant High School.
