What first got you interested in playing softball?
My parents signed me up for T-ball before I was old enough to play softball. I loved being on the field playing, so it was a natural transition into softball.
What has been your favorite moment on the field?
My dad always told me to “crush the ball” when I would get up to bat. So, If I have to pick one, it would probably be my first Over The Fence Homerun last season. I know it would have made him proud.
What is one area of your game you’ve worked hard to improve?
Game Knowledge. I need to know how each position should respond in different situations so I know where the ball should end up to make the out.
Who has had the biggest influence on you as a softball player?
I have always enjoyed watching college softball, especially FSU, but I think college softball as a whole has influenced me. I take the best of what I see from each team/player and try to apply it to my performance.
What is your favorite part about playing softball?
That’s a tie between big plays being made, and dugout shenanigans.
How do you balance softball with schoolwork and other responsibilities?
I try to use my time wisely at school by completing all of my assignments in class and use my study hall period to complete my homework. This way, I have no distractions or concerns when I am at practice.
What are your goals for yourself and the team this season?
To make it to the State Championship. Our team is young and is full of talented girls. If we can “fire on all cylinders” throughout the season, there will be no reason we can’t win it all.
What is your favorite position to play, and why?
“The wall behind home plate,” otherwise known as the catcher. I enjoy the connection between the catcher and pitcher. When she’s throwing heat and I can help get the called strikes, it moves us through the inning and allows our team to get back to the plate to score more runs. Also, the throwdowns to catch a runner stealing isn’t a bad feeling either.
What is your go-to pregame meal or snack?
Smoothie King, Strawberry Banana smoothie with protein powder.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am very active in the youth group at Family Worship Center and an active member of LCS FFA where I show animals and participate in many team competitions.
