This week’s athlete of the week is Plant City High School’s Olivia Ennis. Olivia is a senior at PC and throws the javelin for the Raiders.
How long have you been throwing the Javelin?
3 years
What made you want to try this sport?
My coach kept asking me to come out and throw, so I finally went out my sophomore year and loved it.
Throughout your time at PC, did you do any other sports?
I played volleyball all 4 years.
Is Javelin something you want to pursue outside of high school?
Yes, I am committed to Florida International University for javelin.
What advice would you give someone who wants to get into Javelin?
To be patient, it takes time to really understand and get comfortable throwing javelin.
What’s your favorite thing about javelin?
That it’s an individual sport, so I can control more of what happens.
Is there another sport you haven’t played that you would like to try?
I wanted to try flag football or softball.
Do you have any fun plans for the Summer?
I will be at the beach a lot and hanging out with friends.
