AT&T to hold video competition for Hillsborough students

AT&T wants local high school students to help get the word out about distracted driving.

The company is sponsoring a contest open to any high schoolers in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties, asking students to create public service announcement videos for its It Can Wait campaign and Distracted Driving Awareness Month. According to AT&T's own research, 57% of people are more likely to put their phones down while driving if asked to do so by a friend or passenger.

Videos, which must be submitted by Wednesday, April 19, will be voted on from Saturday, April 22, through Thursday, April 27. The video with the highest amount of Twitter retweets will be deemed the winner.

According to AT&T, prizes include bragging rights and a $1,000 donation to be made to any nonprofit with a safe driving program.

Contest rules can be read online at engage.att.com/florida/icw-video-competition.

Videos must be submitted to KarenMcAllister@att.com, and the appropriate Twitter hashtags are #ICWTampa and #Contest.
