  • Former Post Commander Alvin McGary led the ceremony.

  • The Plant City High School ROTC Color Guard presented the colors.

  • Crosses with flags were placed at the front of the room in memory of the fallen.

  • The Girl Scouts led attendees of the event in the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • The Rev. Dr. Daniel Middlebrooks gave the Memorial Day prayer.

  • The Civitan Club presented a wreath, led by Pat Pogue.

  • Commander Larry Gmytruk gave the welcome statement for the ceremony.

  • The Woman’s Club of Plant City presented a wreath, led by President Karen Griggsby.

  • Eunice Butts, the Central Area Commander, has been part of the American Legion for 30 years. She was the guest speaker for this year’s Memorial Day ceremony.

  • The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce presented a wreath, led by Bruce Rodwell.

  • The Children of the Confederacy presented a wreath.

American Legion Post 26 hosted a Memorial Day ceremony for fallen heroes on Monday, May 30. 

Central Area Commander Eunice Butts was the guest speaker for the event. Area Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Plant City High School ROTC Color Guard participated in the ceremony. 

Local clubs and organizations, including the Improvement League, the Woman’s Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Civitan Club, the Plant City Black Heritage Festival, the Plant City Garden Club, the Walden Lake Community Association, the Daughters of the Confederacy, the Children of the Confederacy and the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce presented wreaths in honor of those who lost their lives.
